DPI of Part
Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) is a NDT process used to detect surface breaking defects in all non-porous materials e.g. metal, plastics and ceramics.
DPI is a very cost effective method of inspecting castings, forgings and weldments, highly successful in detecting hairline cracks, surface porosity, leaks in new products, and fatigue cracks on in-service components. Expedient use includes steel fabrication, renewable energy, aerospace, power generation, transportation and in the gas and oil sectors.
Also known as Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI), DPI is most effective for non-ferrous metals. For ferrous metals IACS’s Magnetic Particle Inspection is recommended, see here for our comprehensive MPI services.
